Our tough and little Mariah presented to Veterinary Emergency Center in June. She was severely traumatized as a result of an altercation with a bear. Mariah had multiple punctures and lacerations. She also had a broken rib which was associated with a hole in the chest through which we could see a lung lobe. More amazing than anything though was that Mariah’s stomach had gone through a tear in her diaphragm and then through a wound in her body wall. In essence, Mariah’s stomach was now outside of her body. Thanks to the amazing teamwork of VEC and Leshem Veterinary Surgery, we were able to take her to surgery and put her back together. It has been over a month and after many visits, Mariah has recovered and is doing very well! She is a very lucky little girl!
