Little 4 pound Princess comes to visit us sometimes to have some special bloodwork rechecked. She has all sorts of outfits depending on her mood, but this week she came all decked out! We just had to capture the moment!
Storm is doing great at her two-week check-up!
This is Storm, a 19-week-old akita puppy from the same household as sweet little Emme, who was lost to them in January. Storm has had 2 surgeries this week to have portions of her small and large intestine removed due to a rare condition known as intussusception. She is looking great just one day after her second surgery and we are wishing her and her family the best!!
This handsome boy came to us Saturday as a very ill dog. He had a perforation in his intestine which developed into a systemic infection and required emergency surgery. He has been recovering well so far and we wish him a continued speedy recovery!!
Wishing everyone a happy holiday and merry New Year!!
Lost a long-time patient and friend last week. Her name is Allie, and she was the epitome of man’s best friend. Her family sent us a beautiful poem this week that says it all. Wanted to share it with you:
If dogs could teach, you would learn ~ when loved ones come home, always run to greet them ~ Never pass up an opportunity to go for a joy ride ~ Allow the experience of fresh air and wind on your face to be pure ecstasy ~ When it’s in your best interest, practice obedience ~ Let others know when they’ve invaded your territory ~ Take naps and stretch before rising ~ Run, romp and play everyday ~ Thrive on attention and let people touch you ~ Avoid biting when a simple growl will do ~ On warm days, stop to lie on your back in the grass ~ On hot days, drink lots of water and lie under a shady tree ~ When you’re happy, dance around and wag your entire body ~ Delight in the simple joy of a long walk ~ Eat with gusto and enthusiasm and stop when you’ve had enough ~ Be loyal ~ If what you want lies buried, dig until you find it ~ And most of all, when someone you love is having a bad day, be silent, sit close by and nuzzle them gently. Kitties love their hiding places! Sarah stayed with us for a bit yesterday as she had some stomach issues. We like to provide our feline patients a place to call their own when they are in the hospital, as it can make them more comfortable during their stay. As you can see, Sarah loved her strawberry “tent’! Wish you well Sarah!
What is in the air? Not one, but 2 c-sections performed here yesterday! Henley is the akita mom with 5 puppies, and golden mom (Maddie) had 3 puppies. Don’t miss our hospital cat Annie in the background of the 1st pic checking everything out (always has to be part of the show). Congratulations families!!
HUGE thanks to For The Love of Jack Rescue and our VEC Donation Fund! Willow is only 3 years old, and just had surgery to remove a hairball lodged in her intestine. Her owner was only able to raise a portion of the funds for her surgery, but through collaboration with For The Love of Jack, we were able to get the funds together to save her. Thank you to everyone who donates to help our furry friends!!
Couldn’t resist snapping a picture of Trevor here! Poor guy came in with a big swollen jaw and was found to have an abscess. He had to have a head wrap placed to help with drainage, plus we thought he would look great with this little accessory!
