This was a fun case!

Moose came to us last December as a teeny little kitten (6 weeks old and only 7 ounces) whose mother had rejected him days before. He was comatose with a very low heart rate and severe hypothermia. He began to respond to immediate resuscitation, but his original family wasn’t sure they could provide the critical care he needed, so they surrendered him to us. He recovered incredibly well and got adopted by another family. His “sister” Catherine recently painted this awesome picture of him in all his glory. We are so proud of you Moose!

We do love happy endings!!!

Georgia here came to us one weekend morning with neurologic signs that manifested from rat poison ingestion. Her owners had not even realized she ate it until she was showing signs. Sadly, many dogs that eat this type of poison (bromethalin) do not survive as it severely affects the nervous system, there is no antidote, and it can take weeks for the signs to resolve. Georgia’s family, however, was committed to seeing her through the ordeal, and nursed the poor girl at home after her stay with us. It took 2 weeks, but she came back to visit us this past weekend, feeling great!

Isn’t she the cutest?

Little 4 pound Princess comes to visit us sometimes to have some special bloodwork rechecked.  She has all sorts of outfits depending on her mood, but this week she came all decked out!  We just had to capture the moment!

Storm is doing great at her two-week check-up!

Hoping for this family’s luck to turn…

March 8, 2016

This is Storm, a 19-week-old akita puppy from the same household as sweet little Emme, who was lost to them in January. Storm has had 2 surgeries this week to have portions of her small and large intestine removed due to a rare condition known as intussusception. She is looking great just one day after her second surgery and we are wishing her and her family the best!!

Well wishes for Denver

This handsome boy came to us Saturday as a very ill dog. He had a perforation in his intestine which developed into a systemic infection and required emergency surgery. He has been recovering well so far and we wish him a continued speedy recovery!!

In Memory of Allie

November 19, 2015

Lost a long-time patient and friend last week.  Her name is Allie, and she was the epitome of man’s best friend.  Her family sent us a beautiful poem this week that says it all.  Wanted to share it with you:

If dogs could teach, you would learn ~ when loved ones come home, always run to greet them ~ Never pass up an opportunity to go for a joy ride ~ Allow the experience of fresh air and wind on your face to be pure ecstasy ~ When it’s in your best interest, practice obedience ~ Let others know when they’ve invaded your territory ~ Take naps and stretch before rising ~ Run, romp and play everyday ~ Thrive on attention and let people touch you ~ Avoid biting when a simple growl will do ~ On warm days, stop to lie on your back in the grass ~ On hot days, drink lots of water and lie under a shady tree ~ When you’re happy, dance around and wag your entire body ~ Delight in the simple joy of a long walk ~ Eat with gusto and enthusiasm and stop when you’ve had enough ~ Be loyal ~ If what you want lies buried, dig until you find it ~ And most of all, when someone you love is having a bad day, be silent, sit close by and nuzzle them gently. Kitties love their hiding places!

November 9, 2015

Kitties love their hiding places! Sarah stayed with us for a bit yesterday as she had some stomach issues. We like to provide our feline patients a place to call their own when they are in the hospital, as it can make them more comfortable during their stay. As you can see, Sarah loved her strawberry “tent’! Wish you well Sarah!

What is in the air?

October 25, 2015

What is in the air? Not one, but 2 c-sections performed here yesterday! Henley is the akita mom with 5 puppies, and golden mom (Maddie) had 3 puppies. Don’t miss our hospital cat Annie in the background of the 1st pic checking everything out (always has to be part of the show).   Congratulations families!!
